Hey everyone! Today I will be comparing two books that when I read them, I thought they were somewhat similar. This post will only be focusing on the first book in each series. Although they do have different story lines, they kind of have a similar vibe. (You know what I mean) Yes there will be spoilers about these two books so you have fair warning.

Different:
Hunger Games- children trying to kill each other
Maze Runner- children helping each other survive
Similar:
dystopian, post-apocalyptic
Different:
Hunger Games- stuck in a forest area
Maze Runner- stuck in a maze surrounded area
Similar:
themes are sacrifice.
Different:
Hunger Games- Katniss sacrifices herself for Prim
Maze Runner- Thomas sacrifices himself for the computer text code
Similar:
killing of innocent people to provide peace
Different:
Hunger Games- uses competition to keep civilians in order
Maze Runner- trying to find a cure for civilization
Similar:
think of other peoples lives before their own
Different:
Hunger Games- there is a love triangle
Maze Runner- no love triangle, but there is one love interest although I'm not sure if I would even consider it that much
Similar:
both hate their governments
Different:
Hunger Games- you need to be selfish and kill others to escape the games
Maze Runner- you need to be selfless and work together to escape the maze
